While fall is quickly approaching (and it seems that happens more quickly each year!), there are still a few steamy days left on this year's calendar, no matter where in the US you reside.

If you need to cool down, and are looking for a terrific, refreshing beverage, this might be the solution! Given to me by a friend, this limeade is tangy and fragrant.

Trade-It-Out Limeade

In a heavy saucepan, stir together:
1 cup water
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup minced fresh ginger

Bring to a boil, reduce heat to prevent boil-over. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool, strain into a pitcher.

To the cooled syrup, add:
1 1/2 cups lime juice (freshly squeezed is best!)
2 cups water

Stir and chill. Serve over ice for a refreshing treat.

Mmm, cool idea, thanks! Do you think this would work with a sparkling water instead of still water? Or even as the basis for a summertime cocktail?
This would be a different treat for me. It may be time to sit in my rocking chair in my sun room and treat myself to this grand sounding drink. Thanks Star!
This sounds delicious. I love limeade. Is ginger often an ingredient in this? Also, does the ginger make it "hot" or spicy ish at all?
