I've started to gather my supplies for my baking! The kids and I will get cracking on Saturday and deliver our goodies on Sunday. We are making cornflake wreaths, snickers cookies, snickerdoodles, cut out cookies, peanutbutter cookies, chocolate cookies with peanutbutter chips, banana bread and fudge. Our day is going to be filled with messy cooking messes and they are so excited! LOL ~Shan

My husband loves pumpkin bread; I should bake some too! I have a special pan that I like to bake it in; it's kind of like six mini angel food cake pans stuck together at the edges... that's a terrible description. But it works very well to make small individual pumpkin bread loaves to give as gifts or as part of a goodie basket. For Violet, an answer to your question about yeast or a bread machine. Pumpkin Bread is a quick bread, meaning it requires no yeast or rising time. The baking soda is the rising agent in this recipe and it rises as it bakes.

The Pumpkin bread recipe isn't for a bread machine is it? I have only ever made maybe a loaf or two of bread and have no machine but most mixes at the store are for the machine (if not all). I don't even know how all that works. With this recipe, do you have to put yeast in the flour? (Can you tell I don't make bread much? It didn't say, so I wasn't sure if you need to use all purpose or self rising flour in the recipe or if bread doesn't need yeast or what. Heyylllpp!

CJ ? Ok, this is confusing, since I've always refered to Carl Hassler as CJ. But ok. My Mistletoe Punch is actually a rendition of 2 champagne punch recipes. But this is what I use..... 46 oz. pineapple juice (sweet) 4 oz frozen lemonade concentrate 2 bottles champagne ( I use an asti spumante for sweetness) 1/2 liter of lemon lime soda ( actually to taste) Grenadine to taste ( plus for festive color) Ingredients are refrigerated before pouring into punch bowl. Champagne last. Happy Christmas!

Thanks so much CJ, for the Pumpkin Bread recipe. I've been looking for a good one, & the nuts & raisins 'sold' me. The music of the Holidays always put me in the spirit. One of my faves - - music from the Nutcracker ballet (Dance of the Sugar Plums). Enjoy! http://www.nutcrackerballet.net/html/nutcracker_music.html

I had already forgotten I need to make pumpkin bread. I guess I have fallen off my trike and bumped my head more than once, LOL. Thanks for the reminder all and for the new recipes. Christmas is going to slip up on me again. I depend on you all to keep me straight with all I have to do

Great idea to post this question. I've already attended 2 Christmas parties, & have 2 more to go. Beside my Mistletoe punch, I make Martha Washingtons, peanut butter cookies with chocolate kisses, sugar cookies, peanut butter candy, & Christmas Candy. I've posted most of these before.

Your pumpkin bread recipe is a definite must-try, thanks! I baked banana bread today - not exactly holiday baking, but an old standard around here. As for Christmas baking, I'll be whipping up some decorated sugar cookies (usually little trees and wreaths and stars), molasses/raisin cookies, and maybe some butter tarts.

CD here is the pumpkin bread recipe. This is actually a recipe I found online and decided to try since I had some leftover pumpkin from Thanksgiving. My husband and I just had a piece of it with some whip topping and it was delicious. Next time I make it I think I will add the nuts, raisins, and maybe some chocolate chips. I did not have these items handy this time so I did not add them. Tina's Pumpkin Bread 1 1/2 cup flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup sugar 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup pumpkin puree 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 eggs, beaten 1/4 cup water 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp allspice ( I left this out) 1/4 tsp cloves ( I used 1/8 tsp since my husband does not like the taste) 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) 1/4 cup raisins (optional) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, salt, sugar, and baking soda. In a separate bowl, combine the pumpkin, oil, eggs, water and spices. Pour into the bowl with dry ingredients and mix just until all are combined - don't stir too much! Stir in nuts and raisins if you are using them. Pour into a well-buttered 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Bake 50-60 minutes until done in the middle. Remove from pan, cool on a rack. Keep wrapped in refrigerator. Can be served with cream cheese, or chopped walnuts in cream cheese. Enjoy!

You are waay ahead of me. I'm still coming out of my turkey coma. All your dishes sound yummy. Would love your recipe for the pumpkin bread. Today, I'm waiting for my groceries to be delivered, want to get a new mini muffin tin, and a grillion things to do. Let us know how everything turns out. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

I have gotten into the holiday mode. I woke up this morning looking forward to baking my pumpkin bread. It is in the oven as we speak. The house smells of wonderful cinnamon and nutmeg. Later today I am going to make some peanut butter rice crispy treats. During the holidays, I love to cook and make desserts. I enjoy providing my husband's work with goodies during this time of year. Our work's Christmas party is next Friday and I will be making later in the week my spinach dip with Hawaiian bread and my mother's cheeseball. I can't wait. I will make the cheeseball probably Wednesday night so that it will have time to set for the flavors to blend. What sort of goodies have each of you been making during this holiday season?
