I believe since we can give a discussion "stars" it is simply a way for us to indicate with think it a good recipe or topic that might interest others.

Barb, I've never seen Campbell's Swiss cheese soup. Think you might be looking for Cheddar Cheese soup. If you don't see it in your local market, I would ask the store manager to stock it. The Cheddar Cheese Soup & Cream of Shrimp (for cooking) are two of my favorites, but seems like in certain areas they are hard to find or non-existant. Big chains, want to keep their customers happy; and if there is a big enough request/demand, they will order it, if Campbell's keeps making it... and I hope they do. Back to the Stars. Penelope, you raise a good question. To take the stars question one step further, I noticed Campbell's recipes with star ratings, but no input/comments from folks that tried the recipe. So... actually I don't understand the star system either.

Barb, if you click on the Shop link at the bottom of the list on the left of this page, it will take you to a link to "Shop for Your Favorite Campbell's Products! That opens to the Campbell's area of another site, Netgrocer.com where they have, among other things, a Hard To Find area that has your Cream of Shrimp Soup! http://campbells.netgrocer.com I did a search and didn't find the Swiss Cheese Soup, but maybe your local grocer could tell you if it can be ordered? Good luck finding those elusive soups!

While I like the idea of a review/comment field, I'm concerned that such would bring out the worst in some folks. The internet seems to draw a lot of nasty remarks due to the annonimity of posting. The italics and bold work, I believe -- but no one seems to use them. What do you mean about backtracking and replying, MIchelle? I haven't had any problems with my replies. Hopefully the Campbell's folks will take some of the comment here to heart. My take, anyway.

Re "The Stars": Since there's no place to "Review/Comment" on a recipe when someone has tried it, it really serves no purpose. The amount of "Stars" given is what the last viewer of the recipe chose - not an average. For all "practicle" purposes, it's as usefull as the Bold, Underline, Italics feature (like an old word processing feature). Great site, but too many unfriendly-user problems. Still cannot post a reply without backtracking. Again hoping the formatting & glitches are brought up to date.

It's probably a good thing that it changes based on user feedback. It would be kind of weird if I rated something as a 5 star and someone else rated it as a 2 for it to stick to either number seems odd. I think an average makes more sense. I changed it to 4 and it looks like it's staying. Is that right? (It was a 2)

Well, I'm back to try this again. I just selected a rating of two, and I see the item is now rated with two stars. I'm curious as to why you can change it after it is rated... but maybe that is a good thing. What do you all think??

When I checked this, it was rated 3 stars - I rated it 5, and instead of averaging to 4, it went back to 5...hmmm...maybe it changes after each user.

I saw you all talking about the stars and thought I'd give it a try. The results were very interesting! First, I selected 3 stars on the 5 star item, it became 4 stars. Then I selected 2 stars, and it became 3 stars. Very odd!

I haven't noticed it either Star. Let's test it here and see what happens. I think as people rate the posts, the system gives an average. I'll give this post 5 stars- anyone else want to chime in and try?

Since everyone can vote or give their opinion on a post/recipe, the rating can go in any direction...5 4 3 2 1, etc. Sometimes the rating option appears, & sometimes it doesn't - formatting glitch.

Hmmm, I hadn't noticed this but it sure seems odd. I can't imagine why Campbell's would do it. Hopefully someone will weigh in with a reason why.

I have noticed that when I rate a recipe, comment or question the correct rating shows up,but after a period of time that rating goes down, down, down. My 5 star will go to 1 star. Is Campbell doing this? Is it someone just disagreeing with a wonderful recipe that took some person a long time to post. I just don't understand. Penelope
