I have this recipe. I've been making it for 30 years! My family loves it, in fact, it's a kind of "initiation into the family" recipe, lol. If a new friend/partner loves it too, they are officially part of the family. <no one has NOT loved it to date!>

    Here it is:

Saute 1/4 cup onion in 1 Tbsp butter (I omit this part because of a child who hates onions).

1 can Swanson chicken broth (I use any brand broth)
1 can (5 oz) boned chicken (I use leftover chicken or turkey)
    1 cup shredded American Cheese
1/2 cup uncooked rice (I use yellow/saffron rice)

Mix in 1.5 quart casserole dish
Bake at 375 for one hour

Note: This feeds maybe 2 people. I usually double/triple/quadruple it.

Jill, I googled and googled all over the place, found lots of casseroles and recipes using ''some'' of the ingredients you've listed....but not all in the same recipe. Even found some from the 1960's but not with Swanson's Chicken Broth....mostly using cream of mushroom, cream of...etc. Also, most with cooking the chicken not using canned.
Never did find one that said it was from the ''back'' of the can\box of Swanson's Chicken Broth.
I hope someone has that recipe and will post it for you.

    Hi Jill, and welcome!

I couldn't find the exact recipe you described, but this one for Chicken Salad Casserole looks promising - using chopped cooked chicken rather than canned chicken.

Browsing the Swanson Chicken site turns up quite a collection of recipes using canned chicken, although they don't look exactly like your mother's recipe either. Perhaps a better searcher will come along with the solution!

I am looking for an old recipe on the back of swanson chicken broth. My mother made is in the 70's.
    It goes something like this:
    1 can swanson chicken broth
    1 can chicken
    1 cup rice
    1 cup cheese.

I am not sure if other things go in. What time and temp.

    Does anyone recall this recipe?

    Thanks,

    Jill
