I remember Food Network featuring unusual restaurants and Lambert's was one of them. I remember because of the waiters throwing the rolls to people and everybody having so much fun. Sounds like a great place to visit......Penny. -- chopsticks are the reason the Japanese did not invent custard

> Cin, > > We have thought about going to Branson for a get away. What is your take of the food and entertainment? I did a permotion for them in a magazine I was the art director for a while back. There are a lot of good restaurant/cafe's and some so-so ones. Entertainment wise it's got allllllll kinds. Dolly's Dixie Stampede, Dick Clarks restaurant, theater and car museum, Roy Rogers & Dale Evans theater and museum (with Roy's son Dusty ''Roy Rogers Jr'' and his son entertaining/singing), the Grand Palace theater, Shoji Tabuche (probably not spelled right) puts on a fab show, the Titanic Museum is wonderful to go thru (articles actually from the titanic), tons of places to shop.....down just past the Old downtown (which is fun in itself), is the new River Front shops with the light shows and usually singers down their singing to entice you to come to their theaters......the Lennon Sisters are good (at the Lawrence Walk Show theater).....ofcourse if Perry Como is in town he's good, there is always Silver Dollar City and Celebration Station. You just can go wrong by visiting Branson.....and can't see it all. I know I've left out a lot.......you just have to go see for yourself. If you can, run over to Ozark.....it 's only about 30 minutes north of Branson.....if that far. It is well worth the short drive to eat at Lambert's Cafe. > "Serve as soon as they are cool enough to throw." LOL! > > -- Lisa Lisa, have you ever been to a Lambert's Cafe???? It's one of my favs. They go around the tables with buckets of....different kinds of side dishes and serve you all you want (some are fried potatoes, tomatos in with elbow noodles, green beans, black-eyed peas, corn, fried okra....etc). If you want a roll...you have to catch it as they throw them to you. They are delish!!! You won't ever go away hungry. And you'll have a blast. We don't have one here but there is one (the 2nd Cafe that they'd opened years ago) in the edge of Springfield Missouri (between Branson and Springfield)...in Ozark, MO. Everytime we go to Branson we eat at the one in Ozark. The 1st one the Lambert Family opened was in Sikeston, MO...then Ozark....then in Foley, AL. (their kids and grandkids run them now) The one in Houston, TX I don't believe is owned by the original Lambert Family..maybe an offspring though...;o) -- Cin(\0/) God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love ~~~~and so small He can curl up inside your heart~~~~

Lambert's Cafe ''Throwed Rolls'' 1 teaspoon granulated sugar 1 package dry active yeast 1/4 cup tepid water ( 105 to 110 dF) 1 cup warm milk 1/4 cup melted butter 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 egg beaten ( at room temperature) 1 teaspoon salt 4 cups all-purpose flour, divided Combine the 1 teaspoon of sugar and yeast in tepid water. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes until yeast begins to foam. Thoroughly mix milk, butter, sugar, egg and salt in large bowl. Stir in the yeast mixture and 3 1/2 cups of the flour, adding a bit more if necessary to make a soft pliable dough. Turn dough out on floured board and let rest while you clean and butter bowl. Knead dough gently, 4 to 5 minutes, adding flour if necessary, until dough is smooth and silky. Return to bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let rise in warm place until doubled in size. Butter a 12 cup muffin tin. Punch down dough. Pinch off pieces about 1 1/2 inches in diameter ( enough to fill 1/2 of muffin cup), and roll into smooth spheres. Place two such pieces in each prepared muffin cup. ( It should be a tight fit). Cover dough loosely with plastic wrap for 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 dF. Bake rolls 20 to 25 minutes or until light brown. Serve as soon as they are cool enough to throw. Makes 12 rolls.
