I butter one side on each slice of white bread, use American cheese-Kraft or Velveeta slices , add fresh sliced tomato and grill in a skillet or on a griddle till golden brown. Then I cut it in half and dip it in ketchup.....must have ketchup.Hubby thinks I'm nuts-lol! -- Jennifer When baking, follow directions. I PUT THE BREAD IN THE TOASTER ''CLICK IT TO TOAST ON ONLY ONE SIDE''...THEN PUT THE CHEESE'S, AND OTHER STUFF THAT I WANT, ON ONE OF THE TOASTED SIDES PUT THE OTHER TOASTED SIDE ON THAT, BUTTER THE TWO UNTOASTED SIDES...AND SLAP IT IN THE SKILLET TO BROWN ON BOTH BUTTERED SIDES UNTIL THE CHEESE IS MELTED....is this a lazy way or what ![]:)](http://community.campbellkitchen.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif) . -- Cin(\0/)

I make Grilled Cheese for hubby and always butter the outside slices before frying (cause that's how my Mother always made it) The biggest challenge is getting it to cook evenly on both sides. Still struggling with that one. (although hubby doesn't care, he just loves them) -- Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons..for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

My usual is a combo of mozzarella and old cheddar on 12-grain bread, with a couple of gherkins on the side. But for variety, a little Italian Fontina with mozzarella and basil leaves on sun-dried tomato bread is yummy, and I'm with the bacon brigade. A little crumbled cooked bacon, or a couple of rashers laid on the cheese is so tasty! There was a recipe for a Grilled Brie with Apricot Jam sandwich in a Fine Cooking magazine from a couple of years ago, and you've reminded me to give it a try, thanks! • Janet

I like 2 slices of wheat, 2 slices of cheese, bacon and tomato. Or regular GC with white bread and cocktail sauce instead of ketchup for dipping. My sister "butters" the outside of the bread with Miracle Whip and then fries it. Haven't tried it myself though....

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches?

I've been craving grilled cheese sandwiches nonstop for the last couple of days. Lately, its been regular american slice cheese on wheat bread and after its done, add pickle slices. Boring, I am. So my question is, how do YOU like your grilled cheese? I need some new ideas! -- ~*~Angela~*~
