Our school has two campuses. One campus has a large LFE Collection bin right outside of the school office. The other campus has a smaller plastic container (like what you would buy pretzels or something in bulk) in the school/teacher office. It sits on top of the teacher mailboxes. Students bring in envelopes or baggies from home and label them boxtops or Campbells. All collections get sent to the office. Our school secretary is so great. She puts them into the appropriate container. We still have mix-ups. The box top coordinator and I see each other frequently. We just exchange what the other needs, or we put them in the other's collection container. We empty the container frequently. If it gets full before I get in to empty it, the secretary has even stuffed a large envelope and put my name on it. It comes home to me in my child's backpack. I have found teachers and all school staff are very willing to help the label projects since it helps our school.

We do something that may be unique to religious based schools. We post a note in our church bulletin requesting church members to donate their labels from home. We have a combined collection container in the gathering area at church. This gives people who do not have children (like older people who eat a lot of soup) a chance to help out.

There are also some small newspapers that have columns for needed items. People write in and say, for example, I need the recipe for red velvet cake. They give mailing info and someone will send the information. I know of people who have done this and gotten many labels. I have also seen labels on ebay. LFE labels tend to be cheaper than Box tops.

We're re-building our LFE effort; Boxtops has been the main one for a while, and we too get all sorts of things all mixed together. Boxtops pasted on Campbell's point sheets, the kids put the baggies and envelopes in any of the several collection bins, etc. We're all part of the same overall PTO committee, and try to pull out each other's items first thing in the process, put them back in the right collection bin ASAP, and tell each other when we do. I did include on a takehome handout and in a blurb for our PTO newsletter the advice to keep them separate to ensure that they get to the right person in time to get credited for contests and promotions. It may have helped some. I believe strongly in communicating as much as possible in the hope that it helps, but I also think this is just one of those things that will always be an issue. Definitely talk to the other coordinator to plan a solution that works for you both, and maybe let the teachers know specific things to do or avoid doing? Hope it works out.

At our shcool we have a Campbell's collection box that the kids and teachers put their soup labels in. Also every month we send half sheets home with pictures on them so the box tops can be glued or tapped on to. When the kids bring their box tops to school they put them into the box top box in their class room which then gets put into the class envelope (if everyone in the class brings one in each month the class gets a surprise). Our prizes range from jump ropes, basketballs (all through campbells) to popsicles, and things of that sort. Yes, I get box tops in my Campbells box and Campbells get in with the box tops. I just turn back in the box tops to any class and the Campbell's are sent back to the right box, you just have to work together. Every program is important and each coordinator has to help each other.

    Sorry that was windy:-D

I know that many schools collect many different items by different coordinators....how do you do it?
THis month was the first for our Label program. Despite the fact I supplied nice bags for the labels the teachers put the boxtops and labels together, and most of it was in my bags I gave them. The teachers turned it in and the boxtop Lady took them all and emailed that she will give me my labels in a couple days.... X-(
How do other schools keep them separated?

    Thanks

    Anne,

We'd be glad to have your Coke Reward points if you're sure you don't want to save them for yourself??? You can also just let them build up in your personal account and later donate them to a school. This would give you a little more leeway in case your school signs up???

But just in case. My school is at zip 73942 school name Acad C E S (no idea why my school looks like that=-) (it's the first school at that zip)

But you might want to wait or just have your principal sign your school up.

Thanks so much for the offer!!!

Just found in the Big Y ad a coupon that says if the program coordinator fills out and returns by 10/29 with proof of participation, the school will get 500 bonus Labels For Education.

    Michelle,

I'm sorry that wasn't posted clearly. It was Heather's response. I've corrected it on the BTFE thread. Unfortunately I can't edit the orignal post so the next time I need to add some info. I'll repost the list and correct it here.

You can reach Heather by going to her school site http://www.ces-richmond.org/cash_for_trash.htm (scroll down and you'll see her e-mail).

Or you could post on the School Fundraising forum over there and I'm sure she'd respond.

Thanks for helping me clean the list up:)

    Hi Sheila,
Thanks for this list. I saw it on BT a while back as well. There is a note next to adoptaclassroom.org that says "we are launching this program now." Is this your note or the original note from the BT forum?

We just launched this program and I would like to email with someone about how to promote it, etc. Has anyone else reading this board implemented the adopt-a-classroom program?

    Thanks in advance
