Mmmmm.... this sounds so good! As you said, perfect for a snowy day. I found a recipe similar to this that I want to try soon. I'll go post it so I don't steal your thread. -- Lisa

This sounds really nice. I usually have clam chowder but I'm trying to not eat too much seafood. I went on a seafood kick and ate a lot of it this week, hee hee!

I made this today and it was vey tasty. Perfect for a cold and snowy day. 6 bacon slices, diced 1 cup finely chopped onion 1/2 cup finely chopped celery 2 cups water 2 cups diced new potatoes 1 tsp. seasoned salt 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 bay leaf 2 cups milk 1 cup frozen kernel corn 1/2 cup milk 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1 1/2 tbsp. chopped parsley or chives Sautee bacon, onion and celery until onion is soft. Drain. Set aside Combine next 6 ingredients in large saucepan. Cook for about 20 minutes until potato is tender. Remove from heat and discard bay leaf. Add first amount of milk and corn. Add bacon mixture. Bring to a simmer. Simmer for about 3 minutes. Stir second amount of milk into flour in small bowl until smooth. Gradually stir into potato mixture. Heat and stir until boiling and thickened. Sprinkle individual servings with parsley or chives. Makes 6 cups. This recipe comes from Company's Coming - Stews, Chilies & Chowders. -- Carol B. -- Edited by 2719934 at 01/11/2009 9:14 PM PST
