Thanks for the review, Penny! It's too darned hot and humid for me to think about this recipe just yet, but I'm going to add this to my list for cooler weather. • Janet

Janet, I made this yesterday. Very moist and tasty. The ingredients added to the 1 lb of ground beef made very generous size patties. However I used lean ground beef and by just spraying the pan with cooing spray I had to watch the patties for burning too quickly. Next time I will either use a ground beef with more fat or use a little oil in cooking. I also added an extra can of cream soup to the end of the recipe. I made egg noodles as a side dish and wanted to toss them in the gravy. Nice comfort food recipe for a rainy day.

Rita, I hope you'll come back to tell us how the recipe works out for you. I might have to give it a try too - her recipe sure sounds better than the one my mother used to make. :)

Hi Rita, and welcome to this friendly group!

Here's a recipe I found in a search of the forums - it was posted by C. Jamison way back in 2001, and the replies to it seemed to be very positive:

    Simple Salisbury Steak
I hope this is the recipe you're looking for! It's a preprinted recipe that I received directly from Campbell's about 10 years ago.

1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup, divided
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/3 c. dry bread crumbs
    1/4 c. finely chopped onion
    1 egg, beaten
    Vegetable cooking spray
1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
Fresh parsley and halved cherry tomatoes for garnish

    1. In large bowl, mix thoroughly 1/4 cup of soup, the beef, bread crumbs, onion and egg. Shape firmly into 6 oval patties of even thickness.
    2. Spray 10" skillet with cooking spray. Over medium-high heat, cook HALF of the patties, until browned on both sides. Remove; set aside. Repeat with remaining patties. Spoon off fat.
    3. In same skillet, stir in remaining soup and mushrooms; return patties to skillet. Reduce heat to low. Cover; cook 20 minutes or until patties are thoroughly cooked and no longer pink, turning patties occasionally. Garnish with parsley and cherry tomatoes, if desired. Makes 6 main-dish servings.

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 30 minutes

Does anyone have an easy recipe for this? I had one at one time. I know you use ground beef, onion, egg, bread crumbs, and cream of mushroom soup. I'm thinking you mix all ingredients. Make patties and brown. Take up and add flour to oil and brown and add water for gravy.
