Hi Jennifer, that's the one I was thinking of. She was OK but didn't have the food or finesse of Big Daddy. I'm glad Adam got a show also, he's really funny. I made Emily's Rosemary-ale au jus. The rosemary might have added a little more depth of flavor than just using Campbell's condensed beef broth alone but not much so I was kind of disappointed, looked better on TV.

Vince, I know who you're thinking of -- there was a young blond girl on TNFNS last seasin and she got pretty far. I think she was in the last group of 4 with "Big Daddy", Adam, and the lady with the dark bobbed hair.

Hi Jennifer, Your way sounds delicious but not for me. I just use sliced roast beef from the deli section, heat that and the rolls in the microwave; heat a can of condensed beef broth on the stove and I'm good. Uhhh, I usually eat with Tater Tots and Ketchup. Haven't added any thing to the broth but am willing to try rosemary, beer and onion powder although I've had hit or miss results with fresh herbs, depends on the current crop I guess, some just seem tasteless.

For my french dips , I just use the cooking liquid the roast cooked in , skimmed of fat. -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future"

Hi Violet-You're right, I don't think Emily was on Next Food Network Star. There was someone with the same kind of bubbly attitude and looked the same as I remember. Anyway, I have the recipe now and will make it soon although I'll leave the apples out. I've used Campbell's beef broth forever when making french dip but never thought of adding anything to it (no imagination here).

Vince, I'm not sure. I started watching that series from a few episodes in but I don't think she was on it. I thought she was so cute and composed, too. She was funny when she was all going gaga over that judge. What's his name again? I can't remember, but it was funny because she was making all these goofy faces over how "hot" she thought he was. The burgers were really good, too! Guy Fieri is cool because he likes the same kind of stuff I do!

You guys are making me hungry. I saw the show and also wished I could go through the TV screen. Wow that looked so good and you could see even the judges and Guy were kinda awed. Was Emily Hobbs a contestant on "The next food network star" last year?

I wanted to eat that pastrami sandwich too! The burgers were great too! Did you watch the burger one last Sunday, Violet? I love Guy Fieri! -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future" -- Edited by 2864590 at 01/14/2009 1:27 PM PST

Ooh, doesn't it? It's rare that I pretty much want to jump at the screen and I watch the Food Network a lot. I'm SO making that one.

Ultimate Recipe Showdown - Emily Hobbs

I watched the URS last night and so enjoyed Emily Hobbs. She was so cute and had some great recipe ideas. When I saw that Pumpernickel Pastrami Panini I just wanted to jump into the screen and grab it. I was SO hoping she'd win just so that sandwich would be on the menu at TGIFridays. I found the recipe online so I will make one myself once I gather up all the ingredients. What did you think of the show and the food?
