I am new to this site but an avid cook. Would love to see pics and recipe of your hamburger pie if you care to share it with me. My daughter doesnt cook much and I am trying to encourage her to cook more as she has 2 yr old twins!

I'm not good with pie crust at all. -- Lisa -- Edited by 2727890 at 05/05/2009 2:40 PM PDT

Mommy Mo, maybe you could pre-bake the bottom crust a little before adding the filling? Pie crusts are tricky to me sometimes! -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future"

Thanks for your support, everyone. I'm no pro at this cooking stuff, lol, I just go by the recipes and try to make something edible. The photos aren't supposed to look like marketing promos or anything. I quite liked the taste of the burger pie but I think the bottom was too squishy. I'm glad you posted - it inspired me to head in to look at your pictures again, and rediscovered your reply with instructions for the lattice crust on your luscious-looking fruit pies, thanks! • Janet

Mommy Mo, I think your hamburger pie looked delicious, especially with the mashed potatoes looking like ice cream....so cute! Did you cut the pie right after taking it out of the oven? It might thicken up a bit after it cools. It looked yummy anyway! -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future"

That's a really good question. I suppose those posters could be trolls, but I think it more likely that they saw your photos featured on the home page and were motivated to share their opinions (however inappropriately). I think a lot of people become members on this site to take advantage of the recipe box and other features and never actually post in the forums. I would like to think the people who left tactless comments on your photos maybe think the only people who really post here and share pictures are professional chefs, photographers, and food stylists and that they didn't realize their comments might hurt a real live person's feelings. I think you responded quite well to their comments. Also, for what it's worth, I think the hamburger pie looked delicious. -- Lisa

Hey all, I posted some photos of my infamous hamburger pie a while back and I just noticed some people who really aren't like longtime members (they had 1 or 2 total posts) were posting some critical comments in my photo album. I was just wondering where they came from because it seems so odd since everyone who is a regular here is so NICE. So out of left field. Have any of you noticed this happening to you? Just wondering if they're trolls or not. -- Worries go down better with soup. ~Jewish Proverb
