Re: Question about allspice.....

Thanks Cin, Bogiemom, and David. I think I will just substitute 1/4 teaspoon of cloves for the allspice . I love cinnamon in baked goods but we don't like it in our meat entrees so I'll leave out the cinnamon.I usually put 1/4 teaspoon of cloves in my white chili so I'm comfortable with those. Idon't think the dish would suffer if I just skipped the allspice/cloves all together. I 'll let you know what happens. P.S. I googled it and found this: The berry of the evergreen "pimento tree" and commonly used in Jamaican cooking. Allspice is one of key ingredients in "jerk spice" mixtures. The spice has a flavor of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, thus the name "allspice". Question about allspice.....

I am making Pasta Jambalaya and it calls for 1/4 tsp allspice. I can't find this spice and it is such a little amount , I was wondering what I could substitute for it? Someone said they used "Old Bay Seasoning " instead but I don't have that either. Any help would be appreciated-thanks! -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future"
