Maybe it's because those chefs are terrible and lack any common sense.I honestly don't know where they found those people and who picked them as actual competitors. I see Chef Ramsey act human when the chefs do what they're supposed to.I'm sure alot of it is put on for ratings....he like a Simon Cowell of the kitchen-lol! -- Jennifer When baking, follow directions. I just started watching H ells kitchen this season after going to the Red Rock resort for dinner while I was in Vegas. If you are planning on going there.. it IS a $50 cab ride... one way... Does he really have a disdain hatred of all the inspiring cooks or is that just an act? Last week he seemed to be almost human while on the boat with the men but turned into "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" when he returned to the kitchen. What's up with that? So..how is he really?

For sure...we'll keep this going! I love talking about the foodie shows too! Meryl, I have so missed this thread! Ummmm, maybe it's just me , but embarrassing as it may be , I really think Chef Ramsey is hot-also Tom Colicico. I have a thing for demanding chefs that yell alot-LOL! -- Jennifer When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste.- Laiko Bahrs -- Edited by 2864590 at 04/11/2008 11:22 PM

Yeah, there are some bad attitudes but after what was her name...Tiffany? on season one and then the whole Marcel fiasco of season two, none of it seems as major I like Mark, but I haven't loved his cooking. I notice they make him do speaking bits (like telling the others how long they have left) cause the female viewers like the accent I have agreed with the eliminations up to this week too...I've even called them in advance! Sometimes I can't tell but this season it's been pretty obvious. Hell's Kitchen...train wreck isn't the half of it! It's all about personalities...I can always tell who he's gonna kick out based on how annoying they are...the more annoying the more likely they get to stay That has to be how they picked them...how much would the viewers be hoping they'd get eliminated! It would be hysterical to watch Hell's Kitchen Vs. Top Chef! I might even pay per view for something like that I like Ramsay in Kitchen Nightmares but I think he's a little TOO over the top here. He barfs on command! I really hate that they show real throw up on TV! He's definitely sold out quite a bit and I don't think he's as good a chef as he thinks he is but he can be amusing. He's also not as good looking as he seems to think he is I haven't been tracking the trend here, but on Kitchen Nightmares it seems he has to have a topless shot while he changes into chef whites at least once a show! Ewww! LOL Anyway, We'll keep this going...I love talking about my foodie shows Meryl -- Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. ~Voltaire

Meryl, I'm glad you're back! I am enjoying Top Chef this season also. As far as personalities go , I think they all need attitude adjustments, but they do have alot of talent. I do like soft-spoken Mark from New Zealand-he makes me laugh. His movie choices("Bad Boy Bubby") were funny and him not seeing "A Christmas Story", I thought it was cool he went along with it.I have agreed with the judges eliminations so far-epecially the guy who made the corn dogs for the block party( don't remember his name). I never would have done corn dogs-everyone knows you have to serve and eat fried foods within minutes or they turn to garbage. I love Hell's Kitchen because it's a train wreck-I can't stop watching. Those chefs are terrible and there's no way I would give any of them a restaurant. I was telling my hubby, could you imagine the" Hell's Kitchen" chefs going up against the" Top Chef " chefs-LOL! I do love Chef Ramsey, he is so over the top that he cracks me up.It is a guilty pleasure that makes for interesting t.v.-imo. -- Jennifer When baking, follow directions. Yay, we still have the Top Chef Thread! Did you know that they probably got the idea for the Guy Fieri show from Top Chef? In Season 2, one of the Elimination Challenges was to come up with a new recipe for TGIFridays and he was the judge. I am enjoying this season's Top Chef very much. There is a LOT of talent there although I'm pretty sure either Richard or Dale will win. Stephanie does some good stuff but she's inconsistant....she does some not so nice things as well. I'm glad we're this far into the season...I can talk about it and I know people's names (pretty much) now Having said that, I was kinda hoping Richard would go home this week. He really fudged it...not only did his salmon lack texture/flavor but scales...ugh! In the kitchen there is no..."well they're good most of the time." I will never forget being told "You are only as good as the last plate you sent out". They said the comment cards from the rest of the guests are what influenced their final decision, but I think they cut Richard some slack because he is normally pretty good. I wish Antonia didn't have immunity cause she annoys me! She bad mouths other chefs a lot and isn't that great herself. And is it spike or andrew who has made the tapioca "caviar" like three times now? Not that I wouldn't mind stealing the idea, but it's done now, let it rest! Dale had a little kids fit over not winning the trip. Looks like he's still sulking next episode! Ok, enough catch up...I will try to make it here to discuss every week...I'm SO glad it's back Meryl PS - oh yeah, I've also been watching "Hell's Kitchen" which is utter garbage! Where did they find these people? None of them can cook! But I'll rant more about it later if anyone's interested -- Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. ~Voltaire

Yes....for sure, and try out the mini burgers as well as all the winning recipes. Geezzz, that means we can go once a week and try a different one until we've tried them all. Do you know we just had the first TGIF built in this area last year.......how long have they been around??? We're always the last to get everything.......except we were the very first to get a Wal Mart (1962). -- Cin(\0/)

Yes, it 's on every Weds. This season is in Chicago. The quickfire challenge was to make an original deep dish Chicago style pizza. Then, in the elimination round they wrote a bunch of classic dishes on a chalkboard ( for example-shrimp scampi, lasagna, crab cakes, eggs benedict etc.) and the chefs drew knives to see who made what .They could stick to the classic way of making it or put a new spin on it. At the end , they eliminated one chef and they eliminate one every week until one wins Top Chef! The celebrity judges are usually Anthony Bouredain, Gail Simmons from Food and Wine mag., Ted Allen and Rocco Despirito. Tom Colicchio and Padma are always judges. We should get down to TGIF's to check out that winning chocolate cake-they turned it into cupcakes I believe. -- Jennifer When baking, follow directions. I liked them alllllllll. But I bet that ''lime in the coconut'' cake is to die for. The great big Chocolate Layer cake, that won the overall, made my mouth water.....so did the pound cake. So tell us...what happened on top chef??? was it the first night of a series??? --Cin(\0/) -- Edited by 2932550 at 03/13/2008 5:59 PM
