Lisa..I'm with you..I would of never thought of using the crock pot for Sloppy Joes..but I LOVE the idea. I've decided this winter..I'm going to utilize my crock pot a lot more. I'm tired of the same ole same ole. With our schedules... my daughter going to sleep early because she wakes up at the crack of dawn for skating... my husband going to job 2 within 1/2 hour of me coming home from work and my youngest taking over where big brother left off.. band and drama... he is coming home after 9pm. If I make something up in the morning.. just scoop it out and eat it on your own time. It beats yet another frozen dinner, pizza bagel, eggs..etc... It seems lately 4 times a week that is our schedules... We still manage to sit down as a family 2-3 times a week. Thanks for sharing this recipe... If I throw a can of corn into it...I can get a veggie in too

One more thing, this recipe doubles or triples easily and leftovers can be frozen. -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future" -- Edited by 2864590 at 11/12/2008 5:21 PM PST

Yes, I've found in the past that using the slow cooker for sloppy joes is a great , easy and cheap way to have people over for movies or football and let them serve themselves. The sloppy joes stay warm and everyone can feed themselves firsts, seconds, ....thirds, etc.-LOL Just put out some chips and dip and the one hosting the get-together( usually me) can actually see the game or movie too! -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future"

I made these Friday afternoon before going to parent/ teacher conferences. Tyler loves crock pot recipes where I measure and he can dump everything in and stir it up . These were yummy. I topped them with cheddar cheese slices and served with steak fries. I like my sloppy joes on the sweeter side and these were great. 1-1/2 pounds ground beef 1 cup chopped celery 1/2 cup chopped onion 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional) 1 bottle (12 ounces) chili sauce-prefer Heinz 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 8 hamburger buns, split In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the beef, celery, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Transfer to a slow cooker. Stir in the chili sauce, brown sugar, pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until flavors are combined. Serve on hamburger buns. -- Jennifer "Every Saint Has A Past, Every Sinner Has A Future" -- Edited by 2864590 at 11/11/2008 3:20 PM PST
