I have cooked Valentine's Dinner at home for a few years now. I always do something Italian or with pasta because that always goes well with wine or champagne and seems romantic to me for some reason.

Oh Jennifer, this is right up my ally! Not that I live in an ally....I mean....nor do I live close to an ally.....OH NEVER MIND!!!

Anyway, my husband and I have cooked at home on Valentine's Day for years....Filet Mignon, with sauteed mushrooms in butter and wine, garlic red mashed potatoes and grilled asperagus, fresh green beans, wine or champagne, then Red Velvet cake or tiramasu for dessert! Thanks for sharing this recipe! :)

This is a romantic dinner you can share with your sweetie...maybe for Valentine's Day!:-x

    2 tablespoons flour
    1/8 teaspoon ground mustard
    1/8 teaspoon pepper
    pinch salt
1 pound boneless beef top sirloin steak, thinly sliced
    2 tablespoons butter
    2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can ( 10-1/2 ounces) condensed beef consomme, undiluted
1/2 cup dry red wine or beef broth
1 can ( 4-1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms ,drained
    1/4 cup chopped green onions
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 teaspoon sugar
    Hot cooked linguine
    fresh minced parsley, for garnish

In a large resealable bag, combine flour, mustard, pepper and salt. Add beef , a few pieces at a time ,and shake to coat.In a large skillet, brown the beef in butter. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. ( about 30 seconds). Add consomme and wine or broth. Stir in the mushrooms, onions ,Worcestershire sauce and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat ;simmer , uncovered , for 10 -15 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Check seasoning and add more pepper or salt to taste, if needed. Serve over linguine and sprinkle with parsley.
This is excellent served with asparagus or broccoli on the side and toasted garlic bread. 4 servings
