Shan, that one made me laugh out loud too. I also love the one with the baby talking, Leigh. And the Dalmatian training the Clydesdales choked me up. LOL I'm a sap. The talking stain still cracks me up when I see it.

I thought the commercials were great, and I like Tom Petty so I enjoyed the half-time show. My husband kept mentioning how odd it was that one band got the whole half-time show, but it was the same way last year with Prince, wasn't it? I don't know. I usually end up being up and around during the half-time show.
This year we were actually sitting down eating. I got an incredible deal on two racks of beef back ribs, rubbed them with a mixture of 2 c brown sugar, 2T paprika (was going to use 1 T cayenne but was out of cayenne) and 2T salt then cooked them for hours at 250° basting them in apple sauce every 30 minutes. They were incredible good. Will definitely do that again.
All the SuperBowl commercials can be seen here if you're interested and have a fast connection (I wouldn't recommend it if you're on dial-up).

I loved the game!! Go Giants! Those Manning boys are cuties!! My favorite commercial was the Dorito's one with the huge mouse. LOL I was totally not expecting that. I figured when the guy took a bite of his Dorito that he'd close his eyes like "O my gosh how heavenly is this?" and when he opened them the dorito in the trap woudl be gone. LOL. I laughed out loud at the mouse jumping out. ROFL. I'm goofy, I know. ~Shan

Carol, did you see the half time show? I always look forward to that but do not think this year was nearly as good as past years. What did the rest of you think of the half time show?

Carol, the best commercials (I think) were the beer commercial that had the dalmation train the clydesdale to be a beer horse and the sports water commercial that featured lizards dancing to " Thriller ". -- ~~"Crock Pot Queen" Sherrie -- Edited by 313870 at 02/04/2008 2:16 PM

We missed the entire Super Bowl. Half time and all! LOL. My neice had a birthday party yesterday and then afterward, my MIL offered to watch our 3 kiddos while hubby and I went out to eat. -- ~*~Angela~*~

Hey Lisa, Here in Canada - the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) doesn't allow all of the great commercials to be shown. We get stuck watching our own boring ads. Tell me, what did I miss? -- Carol B.

I must admit that Super Bowl Sunday here will have nothing to do with football. Should be a good day though. I'm meeting a couple of friends in about an hour, having lunch and doing a little shopping. A stereotype in its own way, but fun. Enjoy the game, and all this great food! • Janet

Jennifer, that sounds similar to one I'm still hoping to try: MEATBALLS AND SAUERKRAUT 1 (3 lb.) bag meatballs (frozen) 1 bottle Heinz chili sauce 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 (16 oz.) can whole cranberry sauce 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 (32 oz.) jar sauerkraut Combine all ingredients and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Transfer to crockpot to keep warm for serving. -- ....... eat mo' grits

Carol, Heinz chili sauce is absolutely delicious. I had a recipe for meatballs once where you use the chili sauce and a can of cranberry sauce....I don't remember what else, but they were good! -- Jennifer When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste.- Laiko Bahrs

I do what the rest do when cooking for a crowd and go with the frozen ones. My favorite trick for when I'm making them from scratch though is to use muffin tins to bake them in. If you're doing bite-sized ones you can use a mini-muffin tin (just be sure to put any muffin tin on a baking sheet with sides if you're using meat with any fat content). I love that I can use a melon baller to scoop them and just drop them right in the tin - no mess! Works great for freezing them, too: freeze the whole muffin tin until the meatballs are firm then just dump them out of the tin into ziploc bags and toss them in the freezer. That said, I forgot all about the superbowl and have yet to do food shopping. We all see it as a perfect occasion to sit around munching on goodies and watch the commercials too. I do have the leftover portion of a pork roast that I infused with garlic before I roasted it; I could shred that and add bbq sauce and it would make great hot sandwiches. That will be a good start. The kids already requested buffalo wings too. -- Edited by 2727890 at 02/02/2008 8:41 AM
