Thanks, David I forgot to mention the most important thing and when you mentioned oyster crackers it came to me: saltines! I love saltines with my clam chowder and usually use each cracker as a spoon

Violet, you're very observant. I hadn't seen it before but.... looks like cream of potato and a can of minced clams (with juice) is about it for the basics..... quick, easy and oh so good. (Celery, onion, lemon juice, salt/pepper, oyster crackers..... added, all make it better though) -- ....... eat mo' grits

Ellen that is a very interesting idea. I hadn't thought of it. I often get the Campbell's clam chowder so I'm wondering if the base isn't the Campbell's potato soup to start with. That sure makes it easy! Sounds very very yummy. I know what you mean about pasty chowder, too. I love clam chowder

fast and easy clam chowder

One Friday during a snowstorm, I was making a fish dinner and wanted some clam chowder. I took a can of cream of potato soup(Campbell"s of course) and added a small can of chopped clams to it. I also added a little Old Bay Seasoning and some dried celery and viola`. It tasted better than some stuff you get at a restaraunt, which can be too thick and pastey.
