I have no idea why they are called this, but they are so good! No baboons were harmed in the making of these brownies!

2/3 cup evaporated milk,divided
1 (18-1/4 ounce) box German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 cup pecans, chopped-optional -I used them, I love nuts in brownies!
1 (6 ounce) package chocolate chips-I used Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips
powdered sugar, for garnish
Grease a 13x9 baking pan.
Preheat oven to 350.
Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in a saucepan.
Cook over low heat until completely melted; set aside.
In a bowl, combine cake mix, butter,1/3 cup evaporated milk and nuts.
Stir by hand, until dough is well mixed.
Press half the dough into the prepared pan.
Bake for 6 minutes. Remove from oven.
Sprinkle chocolate chips over crust.
Pour caramel evenly over the chocolate chips.
Crumble remaining dough over top of the caramel layer.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar.
Cut into squares and enjoy!
