Just received this in my e-mail and it looks delicious

    Ultimate Turtle Brownies
1 box brownie mix with chocolate syrup pouch
    1 bag (14oz) unwrapped caramels
    1/2 c. whipping cream
    1 bag (11.5oz) semi-sweet chocolate chunks
    1 c. coarsely chopped pecans

350 oven. Spray 13x9 pan with baking spray. Make brownie mix according to directions on package. Pour and spread 1/2 into pan. Bake 15mins. Microwave caramels and cream till smooth. Spread onto top of brownie. Sprinkle 1c. chocolate and 1/2c. pecans on top. Put remaining batter on top and sprinkle with remaining chocolate and nuts. Bake 35mins longer.

My standard brownie recipe is pretty unremarkable, with no additions, but they're so good, plus quick and easy. I'm not a fan of nuts in brownies, but the recipe includes the option of chopped walnuts or pecans. There's a recipe from Ina Garten (I think it was her) that called for having some peanut butter added to the batter. A touch of mocha flavour can be nice too - not so much that you can really taste coffee, but to give an extra complexity of flavour.

Oh Penny, now you've got me thinking I must make brownies today! • Janet

Penny, I saw Paula Deen make brownies - she put half of the batter in the pan, then she put a layer of milk chocolate bars and then put the rest of the batter in. Personally, I love walnuts in brownies. Or, you could turn them into a fancy dessert - a scoop of ice cream on a brownie square topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and nuts. My kids loves these "Brownie Sundaes".

    > Last thing i want to do is hyjack Cin's thread on brownies and I'm sure she'll come up with lots of great ideas but has anybody made their brownies different. I like to use marshmallows and fudge swilled on top or add chocolate morsels and Heaths toffee to the mix..

Penny........Maybe we'll get a lot of new ideas on this thread, good job posting.
